Dark Thoughts

Welcome! Unless you are a new visitor, you will have noticed that this site has not been updated, for the most part, in a few years. There are several reasons, but mostly it's because I'm just too busy to create new issues. I also found it increasingly hard to get submissions other than poetry. However, I refuse to completely let go, and hope to one day resurrect this site!

One thing I will do in the near future is change this front page and move the entire last issue (Issue 10) into the archives. I also plan to scan and make PDFs of all my old print issues of Nox, and put them in the archives.

For now, if you'd like to keep up with me, you can go to my page at: http://www.myspace.com/ninmaven

***NOTICE--PLEASE RESPOND: I would like to know how many people would be interested if I were to revive Nox. Contributors will be key in it's rebirth, so if you would be able to contribute fiction, nonfiction, poetry, artwork, photography, music or book reviews, please drop me a line to let me know. I'm not looking for actual contributions at this time--I'm just trying to see how much interest there is. Also, if you are someone who would be interested in reading new issues without contributing, I'd really like to know that too. You can write to me at the e-mail address that is further down on this page.

You can also sign up for my Yahoo group mailing list. The link is in the left column. I promise you will not receive a lot of spam! In fact, you will receive a welcome message, and then get messages only if I update the site. If you have been checking this page for updates, you may have noticed the guestbook isn't working. The only comments were spam, so I have disabled it, but left up any old messages that were relevant.

Thanks for checking out Nox. In darkness -- Loretta A.

Background

NOX is the name of the zine I published from April 1993 through October 1996. The name NOX comes from the Latin word for night. It is also the name of the Roman goddess of night (the same as the Greek Nyx). NOX contained horror fiction; dark poetry; original, macabre artwork; music and book reviews, and non-fiction articles on topics of interest to the gothic-inclined. Much of the material was related to vampires. This on-line version, includes the same types of material.

The music that you hear is called Nox Theme #2 which is written and performed by Satan's Death Machine.

Nox logo from Witch Way Graphics.

Buttons created with the Button Maker at www.coolarchive.com (I added the mouseover tags).

"Coffin Satin" sidebar is a .JPG file that was meant to be used as a background, but I made it into a sidebar. I got this from a site simply called Buttons, Bullets, and Backgrounds.
